MAGIC W3 tablet/phone OS Windows 7 Home Premium

MAGIC W3 is the first tablet/phone to run Windows 7 Home Premium

Wondering whether to buy a tablet or a phone? Scratch your head no more, as AdvanceTC is going to launch a 4.8-inch tablet phone which, wait for it, runs Windows 7! Yes, the device is going to be powered by an Atom Z530 processor, clocked at 1.6Ghz and will indeed run a full, uncut version of the Windows 7 Home Premium.
The tabletphone is going to sport a 4.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 800x400 and a 1GB of RAM. At the front of the device there’s going to be a 1.3MP camera for video conferencing.
Measuring at 141 x 81.5 x 22 mm and weighing 260 grams the device is hefty indeed and could probably be used for self defense, too, but the 3200 mAh 3.7V battery should keeping it going for a couple of days (hours). It also packs a gig of ram and a 32GB SSD for storage. A MicroSD card slot allows you to expand that.
Obviously to be able to support telephony, the OS running on the MAGIC W3 has gone through some dark witchcraft and there’s a custom UI layer, called MAGIC Telephony Touch UI, which includes a phone dialer, messaging, call history and contacts app. The MAGIC W3, just like the Motorola Atrix, will be able to connect to a larger display and act like a nettop PC via an HDMI dock.
It all sounds promising, but unfortunately AdvanceTC hasn’t given away important details like when it’s going to hit the market and how much it’s going to cost. Not that we'd rush off and buy an expensive and complex gadget from a company we've never heard before.

New Generation of Touch screens

This is the future of touch screens, a very tough and scratch proof glass. The Dragontrail glass made by Japan’s Asahi Glass is about six times as tougher than a chemically-treated glass available in the market today. So, no more buying those sticky plastic screen protectors.. in the future.

Sony NGP new version of PSP

Sony NGP new version of PSP
Sony just released the new version of PSP now called Next Generation Portable or NGP for short. Many believe that is the powerful gaming device which will be later available in the market. One of the few and obvious additions from its PSP predecesor is that it comes with a touch pad, camera in front and rear, a six-axis motion sensing capabilities.
The NGP is powered by an ARM Cortex A9 quad-core CPU, and that’s a lot of power for an handheld game gadget. It also equip with WiFi, capable of connecting to a 3G mobile network, and a built-in GPS.
But don’t hit the gadget store yet, as Sony is planning to release this during this coming holiday season.
Another additions is the LiveArea feature, it’s a game-oriented communication which allows users to play live with other NGP connected.

SmartLab Recon 6.0 Rover

Those of us old enough to remember the Jetsons are more than likely disappointed that we don’t have automated robots to wait on us hand and foot quite yet.  However, the younger generation is getting their fix of artificially semi-intelligent silicon delight with SmartLab’s new Recon 6.0 Rover.  The little treaded robot comes with a microphone and speaker so they can scare friends and visitors alike with pre-recorded messages and is easily programmable (unlike most DVRs).
That’s right–the cool thing about this toy is that it’s not remote controlled.  Similar to a hacked Roomba (but much cheaper) this toy relies on computer-style coding to tell it what to do.  That’s where the educational component comes in—kids have to learn to program the Recon 6.0 Rover to make it do what they want it to.
Don’t worry, your child won’t have to re-write Java or hand-code DOS.  There’s an LCD display on the front with several brightly colored buttons below (because kids like brightly colored buttons, right) and the Rover comes with an owner’s manual with everything you need to know to get started.

Xbox 360 Carrying Cases – GAEMS Gets a Reboot

We brought you news of the original GAEMS Xbox case a while back because it was a cool idea with some flaws in the execution.  There wasn’t any room for any of the peripherals needed for gaming and the case was a bit bland from a stylistic point of view.  However, this new edition of the GAEMS case seems to have improved (if only marginally) on the original.

The first thing you notice when you compare the two models is that this one just looks a whole lot cooler.  Instead of modeling the case after an old typewriter, this new version has a custom sculpt that’s somehow angular and curvaceous at the same time.
In addition, the design has been modified to accept the new Xbox 360 consoles (the “thin” or “slim” versions as they’re being called at the moment) as well as the originals.  You can even fit a PS3 slim version inside if you really wanted to.
The best part, however, is the fact that they finally made room for the power adapter and controllers so you don’t have to carry a separate bag.
Other upgrades include a remote and HDMI cable.  You still get the same 720p TV screen and decent (but not spectacular) speakers and all for just $300.  That may seem like a lot to pay for a case and a smallish TV but if you’re the type of gamer that just can’t leave home without your console, there really is no better way to carry your machine.

Montiel vs Donaire Live Streaming

Fernando Montiel the Mexican fighting champ hold a record of 43-2-2 and 33 Kos has been in great form. This fighter is also considered as future Hall of Famer as for 10 years he has remain a champion. His extreme impressiveness within the ring has been won him 3 different weight divisions. Monitel is an experienced champion with 140 championships round in his 15 year career.
“The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire beholds a record of 25-1 and 17 KO’s is showing some promises to be the future champion in further category of this arena. Donaire’s confidence has peeked itself and this champion has been in best shape for this fight. In his previous bantamweight standing in December, he overpowered Wladimir Sidorenko just in the fourth-round with some vicious attacks.
There has been a tough prediction all over the places with this fight. Both the fighters will be ready to challenge each other but from my view Nonito will be the man who will utilize his overall skill just to secure his repo within the ring against Monitel. Nonito with his confidence will surely take down Montitel the champ

Razer Hydra motion controls

Now consoles aren’t the only gaming systems with motion controls. Razer’s Hydra controller brings the joy of waving your controller around to your PC. It’s powered by Sixsense’s Truemotion technology, which uses a magnetic field to detect the movements of the controller.
As VentureBeat’s Dean Takahashi explains it: “The system has a base magnet that connects to your game PC and a couple of handheld controllers that you use to maneuver through the game. The net result is that it gives a player ’six degrees of freedom’ for controlling a game. In that sense, it’s a lot like Sony’s Move controllers for the PlayStation 3. The price of the Hydra is expected to be under $100 but isn’t final yet.”
The controller will also be featured in a special Portal 2 bundle later this year.

Microsoft Touch Mouse

Microsoft has been working on its multitouch mouse for years now, but last week we finally got a look at its Touch Mouse. The mouse sports a smooth multitouch surface that’s not marred by any ugly buttons or scroll wheels, and it includes gestures for up to three fingers. Sure, Apple released its multitouch Magic Mouse at the end of 2009, but it seems Microsoft has spent its extra development time making the Touch Mouse more ergonomically friendly — something that Apple’s mice can’t claim to be. The mouse is built specifically for Windows 7, with gestures for AeroSnap and a cool task switching interface.

Android 3.0

With Android 3.0, it looks like Google has finally brought its mobile OS up to par with Apple’s iPhone OS. Google unveiled a preview of the OS last week, and it looked positively next-generation — with a striking new interface, updated maps and email apps, as well as a more polished look overall. We also learned that it would be powering Motorola’s Xoom and LG’s G-Slate — and you already know how much we love the Xoom. We’re just hoping Google brings many of the visual niceties in Android 3.0 over to phones soon.

Verizon’s LTE 4G network

The only downside to Motorola’s Atrix is that it doesn’t run on Verizon’s LTE 4G network, which is quickly gathering steam with a plethora of new devices and ridiculously fast speeds. The carrier announced that 10 LTE devices will be hitting its network during the first half of this year. And in my testing with the Motorola Bionic, the phone managed to get download speeds of around 18 Mbps and upload speeds of around 3 Mbps — both vastly faster than any 3G network.
AT&T is also moving forward with its LTE 4G network this year, while T-Mobile and Sprint are continuing to expand their 4G networks. But so far, only Verizon’s network has shown us next-generation speeds in the real world.

Samsung series 9 laptop

Windows PCs finally have a legitimate competitor to Apple’s impossibly-thin Macbook Air. Samsung’s series 9 ultraportable laptop bests the Air in almost every way — it’s slightly thinner, slightly lighter and a lot more powerful with a second-generation Intel Core i5 processor running at 1.4 gigahertz. It’s also made out of Duralumin, a metal that’s twice as strong as aluminum. It’ll be out in February at a steep $1,599 — but from the looks of it, the high price will be worth it.

Microsoft Surface 2

Microsoft’s touchscreen tabletop Surface was an interesting, but unwieldy, product. Surface 2 fixes pretty much all of the first version’s issues — it no longer requires a bulky cabinet, for one — and it basically gives LCDs the power to see. Its PixelSense technology lets LCD displays recognize fingers, hands and other objects pressed directly onto the screen. And since it’s no longer bulky, Surface 2 can be wall mounted — opening up a plethora of new uses.

Motorola Xoom

On top of the Atrix, Motorola also managed to deliver the best looking Android tablet with the Xoom — a feat considering that there were dozens of tablet competitors at the show. The 10.1-inch Xoom was the most iPad-like Android tablet with its polished hardware, and since it runs Google’s tablet-friendly Android 3.0 OS, it can also match the iPad when it comes to user experience. It’s a definite upgrade from Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, the only other viable Android tablet out right now.

Motorola Atrix

We expected to be wowed by tablets more than phones at CES, but leave it up to Motorola, creator of the Droid phone that helped popularize Android, to deliver a phone unlike any other. The Atrix is a powerful 4G smartphone for AT&T powered by a 1 gigahertz dual-core processor — but that’s not what makes it interesting.
The device is so powerful that Motorola created two docks to let consumers use it to its full potential: One, dubbed the Laptop Dock, effectively lets you use the phone as a smartbook — complete with a touchpad and keyboard. Another dock lets you use the Atrix to power a computer monitor and plug in your own keyboard and mouse.
It’s the first smartphone to truly cross the line between computer and mobile device, and it was by far the most fascinating gadget at CES.

Blank Activation Screen Problem

Some systems affected by this issue have been found to have a My Computer zone (with a high security level) on the Security tab of the Internet Options dialog:
Having a My Computer security zone is somewhat unusual. Typically, there are only four security zones: Internet, Local intranet, Trusted sites, and Restricted. In this case, examining the registry may also find a subkey under Zones named with a "broken" character at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones:
if L apears delete it...
There should only be zones 0-4 listed here so if this "broken character" subkey exists, try deleting it.
Restart Internet Explorer and check the Security tab to ensure the My Computer zone no longer shows up and then retry the Autodesk product activation.

Motorola Android 3.0 tablet

Android's Andy Rubin showed off a Motorola-made tablet running an early build of Android 3.0 Honeycomb at the D:Dive into Mobile conference. And it really did look good.
The email app he showed certainly appeared to take a few cues from the way Apple tweaked the iPhone OS to work on iPad - and we're glad it did. Tablets with the usability and style of iOS with the options and power of Android?

Nintendo 3DS

If 2010 wasn't all about tablets, it was all about 3D. We've seen a huge push on 3D TVs, but some people just aren't on board with having to wear the glasses.
So while everyone else is battling the same problems Nintendo had when it released its first 3D console, the Virtual Boy, the 3DS is getting ready to bring a glasses-free third dimension (other than the regular, real-life one, obviously.
As if simple, comfortable 3D gaming wasn't enough, Nintendo is making sure the 3DS doesn't suffer the same lack of third-party titles the Wii has had (and the N64 had, and the Gamecube, now that we mention it). Some of the biggest names in gaming are already on board, including Metal Gear Solid and two absolutely stunning looking Resident Evil games.

Troubleshooting Tips Laptop Battery Problems

If you have laptop battery problems check out a few simple tips before replacing your battery, not only could it help to revive or prolong the life of your current battery but also any new battery you purchase.
Just to clarify when we refer to a laptop battery in this article we are referring to the main battery and not the CMOS type (if your computer is losing date and time settings frequently checkout our other article on this)
Laptop battery problems are amongst the most common issues with laptops, this could be one of the reasons most laptop manufacturers may offer 3 or 4 years warranty on a laptop, but if you check you’ll find the battery may only be covered for a year, so it indicates that manufacturers also know that the battery is in most cases the part which is most likely to fail, or need replacing.

As laptop batteries are not cheap, its worth trying a few things to make sure the battery cannot be revived before replacing with a new unit.

The first way to resolve many laptop battery problems is to completely discharge the battery, simply let your laptop drain it completely, you may need to disable the power saving settings in both the Windows control panel and your laptops BIOS to stop the power saving preventing the battery discharging completely. Once done allow it to charge fully for around 12 hours, its worth repeating this 2 or 3 times to make sure any battery memory is completely removed.
NOTE
This method should only be used on NiMH type batteries and not LiION
Next  and the easiest way is to download software from your laptop manufacturer which will reset or run maintenance on the battery, for example IBM uses power manager which is part of it’s Think vantage software suite, this has a nice little option called Battery Maintenance, this tells you the condition of the battery as it currently is and how much charge it can hold.
This also offers options such as resetting, optimizing the batteries lifespan.
Having tested the software ourselves I can confirm it can make a large difference, a battery holding a charge of around 15 minutes can now hold a charge of around an hour.   This type of software is available for many mainstream laptops, but for some reason it does not usually come bundled with the laptop and needs to be downloaded separately from the manufacturers website.

The most extreme way to resolve laptop battery problems is to replace the actual cells or batteries within the batteries plastic casing, many laptop manufactures use common battery types so they are easy to find replacements,  this is not for everyone though, as it does require soldering as well as a certain amount of know how as if wired incorrectly could result in damage to your laptop.
Its generally accepted that when a laptop battery begins to hold less and less charge it’s a good indication that the battery has reached or is reaching the end of it’s life and will need replacing.
A laptop battery should last between 18-24 months, but its impossible to be more accurate than this due to the way a laptop uses its battery, how often the battery is used, and how much of a load is required of it and how often the battery is almost fully discharged.
The cost of laptop batteries can be extreme, but did you know there is an easy way to save more than 50% on manufacturers prices?
Checkout laptop batteries on eBay many of them are brand new costing a fraction of the listed price.
