Portable GPS Tracker

This must be one of (if not the) coolest spy gadgets I’ve ever reported on. It’s sort of a cross between a USB memory stick and a GPS receiver and what it does is store where ever you take it on the flash memory.
The Portable GPS Tracker is pretty small so you could either always carry it on you or use it in 007 spy mode by planting it on a person or vehicle you want to monitor. You may be wondering how you retrieve the stored info and secret routes, well that’s where it gets really cool.

Once the tracker has done it’s travels and it’s back in your possession you simply connect it to you PC and download the data. This data can then be plotted on Google Earth, Mapquest, maps.google.com and Virtual Earth to show exactly where it’s been, how long it took and how it got there.

I just think this is so cool (may of said cool a record number of times in this post) it obviously has the spy functionality of tracking somebody else but to me it is even more useful for tracking your own holidays and backpacking adventures. So not only can you bore visitors with your holiday snaps you can also show them exactly where you went.
Full feature list:
  • Records time, date, location, speed, direction and altitude
  • Works with Google Earth, Mapquest, maps.google.com, Virtual Earth
  • Location points are downloaded into its software and then mapped
  • Battery duration is 5 to 7 days of typical operation with 4,000 records
  • Requires 2 AAA batteries (not included)
  • Dimensions: 4″ x 1 1/4″ x 3/4″
  • Comes with TrackStick, lanyard, software CD

MSI releases new notebooks Model CX640 and CR640

MSI has just announced that they will be introducing a couple of mainstream notebook, namely the CX640 and CR640 models that will arrive at the doorsteps of online retailers in North America. These two will come in the 15.6” form factor, where you will find specifications starting from the Intel Core i3-2310M Processor with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M with Optimus Technology powering the CX640′s innards, although there is always the option to go for something of lesser power – Intel’s HD 3000 Graphics chipset instead in the CR640.
The silver colored CX640-071US is slated to retail from $679.99 upwards, while the black CR640-035US has been slapped with a $629.99 price tag for those who are interested, and regardless of which model you purchase, they’re enough for general school or work use, although gamers might want to look into the former model instead of the latter due to the presence of a dedicated video card.
In order to keep up with the times, MSI will also throw in 4GB of system memory and 500GB hard drives in both models. Not only that, the elegantly designed notebooks will ship with a bunch of other features such as worry free one-touch back-up and restore with MSI’s Time Stamp technology, where a single touch of the Time Stamp button will put your mind at rest where crashes, viruses, and data loss are concerned.
Integrated extra Hard drive protection is also thrown into the mix by an engineering move to change the position of the C Series’ hard drive to the middle of the chassis, while keeping it surrounded by a unique housing that will do its bit in protecting your data from the occasional drop or shock.
Apart from that, both the MSI CR640 and CX640 will also sport Fast Boot technology, letting the unit power up approximately two times faster compared to its rivals in the market. Data transfer is also a whole lot speedier now with USB 3.0 connectivity, so make sure you have a USB 3.0 hard drive or compatible data storage device if you want to take advantage of that kind of speed.

Apple Launching New Free MobileMe on April

Apple has been working on a new version of MobileMe, the last thing we heard was that Apple would be holding a special event in April to launch this new version of MobileMe.
Now iLounge are reporting that Apple will launch a free version of MobileMe next month, and it looks like it will be significantly different to the existing version of MobileMe.
Apple will support the existing version of MobileMe for up to 12 months from the date when the new one is available, this leads us to believe that the new one will have some major changes.
Recent reports have suggested that the revamped service will position it as a free online, cloud-based “locker” for content such as photos, videos, and music.
It will be interesting to see what Apple comes up with in the new version of MobileMe, the existing version does come with a lot of good features, although some areas could do with some work.

MSI Shows Off GX680 Model with 16GB of RAM

MSI thinks you need more RAM. Not satisfied with your 4GB or 8GB model? Step up to the plate and fork over a fistful of cash for MSI’s new GX680 laptop and you’ll get up to 16GB of DDR3. That’s right, 16GB.
But it’s not all about the RAM (just mostly). This new portable gaming machine from MSI also boasts an Intel Core i7-2630QM processor and NVIDIA’s newest darling the GeForce GT 555M graphics card. That’s the card that rocks the 1GB of GDDR5 memory in case you think you need more RAM.
PC / Game Laptop
The 15.6 inch PC displays full 1080p HD graphics (as it should with those spec’s) and comes with dual hard drives each packing 750GB. In addition, you can choose to upgrade to a Blu-ray drive and THX certified audio if you so choose.
This machine is definitely a little much for an average or even casual user but for a hardcore gamer that doesn’t like being locked down to their desktop, this model will give you all the power you need in a package that’s ostensibly portable. Plus it has the cool glowing lights that every 80’s movie geared us to expect from the future.
